MODULE 1: BELTANE MAGICK, LORE, & RITUAL

Welcome to Beltane, (Bi-YAWL-tinn-eh), friends! In this module, I share some of the history and lore of the May 1st fire festival of the Celtic / Wiccan calendar that honors the union of the God and Goddess via fertility, conscious creation, pleasure and all-out joy. Beltane gives us a beautiful opportunity to explore how we interact with these buoyant energies in our day-to-day lives ... and to share that effervescence with others in our communications and engagements.

Speaking of communication, Beltane is one of two festivals on the Wiccan Wheel of the Year that signal a particular thinning of the "veils" between the physical and spiritual realms. Take advantage of this time to commune with spirits, ancestors and non-human beings. And do all of it with a light heart and an intention to spread goodwill throughout the land!

Imbolc (Feb 1 or 2) brings whispers of spring, new beginnings, and the promise of the sun’s return. Nature is starting to stir, yet in these cold months the hub of activity remains the hearth and the home. Both are ruled by the Celtic goddess Brighid, who finds her mortal counterpart in one of Ireland’s patron saints, Brigid of Kildare. We can call upon the Goddess Brighid with confidence for assistance in all domestic matters. We can invoke her when we seek support for women in childbirth, or when we want to ask protection of children and baby animals. Brighid is a generous deity who embodies the Imbolc qualities of purification, awakening, rites of passage, and care for the young. I can't wait for you to meet her! ALTAR CORRESPONDENCES: Colors: white, green, pink, yellow, brown (early spring colors) Crystals: amethyst, garnet, onyx, ruby, turquoise Food: breads, cakes, chamomile, cheese, yogurt, basil Scents: frankincense, lavender, rosemary, jasmine Activities: blessing/cleansing the home & hearth

MODULE 2: BELTANE ALTAR CORRESPONDENCES

In this module I talk about some of the energies you may want to "anchor" with your Beltane altar. I touch on the colors, symbols, crystals, incense and herbs that can help draw us closer to the blessed vibrations of this sacred time of year.

Bridge Magick teaches us how we can hold space for more than one truth without losing sanity, and to communicate / travel between independent states of being...

MODULE 3: BELTANE REFLECTION

One of the opportunities of the sacred Beltane fire festival has to do with rejoining and reuniting the divine aspects of ourselves in service of our holy life force; our conscious creation. These aspects are the Divine Masculine (yang) and Divine Feminine (yin) energies that run through our energy systems, and that keep the universe in motion. This module features a guided meditation to put you back in connection with each of these aspects of yourself. If you feel so inclined after the meditation, grab a journal or notebook and answer the following questions (also shared in the recording):

Reflection:

  1. What did you perceive or what do you know about the gifts of your divine masculine energy? What are the challenges or blind spots?

  2. What did you perceive or what do you know about the gifts of your divine feminine energy? What are the challenges or blind spots?

  3. Do you feel as though there is one aspect that tends to drive you in general? How does that emphasis feel to you? Does it feel comfortable? Does it feel uncomfortable? Foreign or familiar?

  4. 4. What would it look like to bring your two aspects into balance? What do you feel you could accomplish? How would life be different, more rewarding, more expansive?

According to pagan legend, Brighid's Mantle was a cloak that conveyed her mystical powers to those who needed protection and healing (https://www.learnreligi...

MODULE 4: BELTANE SEED MAGICK SPELL AND RITUAL SEX

At Beltane, we celebrate the sexual / creative consummation of God and Goddess. Some early pagan celebrations quite literally reproduced this union through ritual acts of sex and intercourse, often in fields or forests to bless that land with the miracle of creation to invite abundance.

Our well will work symbolically with this union, using another act of creation: Sowing seeds. Here, the seeds represent the masculine energy, the soil the feminine energy. We'll also hold a container for this conscious creation with our intentions, our wishes, our hopes and our desires using ribbons of many colors. In this way, we connect our life force with the growth and development of the "harvest."

Supplies

  • Flower pot

  • Ribbons in assorted colors

  • Sharpie or pen

  • Single white candle

  • Mason jar with lid

  • Seeds of your chosen plant

Before you start the spell: fill the mason jar with water and "charge" the water outside for 24 hours so it absorbs the energy of both the sun and the moon.
